Internal displacement of more than one million people and inadequate protection services particularly in remote and conflict zones there is a widespread failure to promote and protect the right of children.
More than 50% of Afghanistan’s population is of age under 18, facing severe situations of conflicts, abuse, displacement, poverty and detrimental social norms and practices. The fate of Afghan girls not limited to early marriages but honor killings, domestic and sexual abuse. Afghan boys are suffers similar fate, including recruitment by the armed groups, sexual exploitation and child labor.
OCHR is engaged in working with the poor at the grassroots and promotes the well-being of all children whose lives are directly impacted through its projects. Care and concern for children are the heart of OCHR’s organization and is outlined in the vision statement as “life for every child in all its fullness.
As a reflection of our commitment to the vision and because children are often vulnerable to abuse and exploitation, OCHR places the highest importance on the protection and safety of children in all its dealings. Protection is a right of the child. OCHR commits to complying with all partnership standards for child protection designed to safeguard children from exploitation, neglect, and sexual and physical abuse.
