Emergency in-kind food and livestock assistance to IPC Phase 3+ vulnerable people in Kamdesh and Barg-e-Matal districts of Nuristan province
Abdul Wahab is one of the project beneficiaries from Gharbi Barg-e-Matal village in Nuristan Province. He is the head of his family and the only person who should support the 8 members family and provide them with food and other necessities.
He added: “I am a poor person responsible for providing food, clothes, medicine and other needs of my family. considering the mountainous context of our region with no job opportunities and no agricultural land it is very difficult and challenging for me to provide sufficient food for my family”
During the need assessment and beneficiary selection period he was selected as beneficiary based on beneficiary selection committee (BSC) recommendation as he was found shock affect and the most vulnerable person in his community.
Mr. Wahab received three rounds of in-kind food assistance via OCHR/AHF emergency winterization project. According to him the provision of in-kind food assistance was very useful and life saving for his family, before the assistance they were facing food insecurity and he was not able to provide sufficient food for his children.
“I was experiencing very hard days of my life, no one could help me in the community, we consumed all of our food sources, fortunately I was select by OCHR assessment team and now we can have sufficient food at least for a few months”
Assessment results show that there are many other shock affected and poor people like Mr. Wahab who need emergency food support in the severe and cold wither season.
By the end of this interview Mr. Wahab was very happy and thankful for AHF/OCHR food intervention and requested continued food supplies to their community.
